If you’re a parent, grandparent, caregiver, or educator,
How can you teach the kids you love to ask for help if they experience abuse?
So they don’t stay silent, like I did.
Like most survivors, I didn’t tell anyone what was going on while I was in the middle of it.

Because I thought no one would believe me.
Not only that, what if they blamed me?
Plus, I was embarrassed by the abuse.
I thought it was gross.
And it was.

Most of all, I felt shame because I did not fight.
I did not flee.
I didn’t yell for help.
I thought I was a bad person for not resisting.

Years later, I came to understand why I did what I did.
My seeming lack of a response was actually the response known as “freezing.”
It’s the brain telling the body to be very still in order to minimize damage.

These days, I want to help kids recognize bad activity and ask for help.
It’s why I wrote the book, “The Brave Knight.”

~Buy the book “The Brave Knight” for all the kids you love.
~To teach them what language and behavior bullies and predators use.
~To show them what it feels like when bullies and predators isolate you.
~And most of all, to teach them they can use their words to get out of scary situations.

As passionate as I am about sibling sexual trauma

As passionate as I am about sibling sexual trauma and abuse (SSTA),
I am equally passionate about intrafamilial child sexual abuse (IFCSA),
Also known as ince$+.

Of all the survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA) I know,
The most common "pairing" I see in child sexual abuse,
Is a father figure and a daughter.
Though sometimes it is a father abusing a son.

Father figures can include:

-birth father
-step father
-adoptive father
-foster father
-boyfriend of a child's parent

Fathers who sexually abuse their children
Use a number of tactics to convince their victims the sexual behavior is acceptable.

-"This is how we show love."
-"All fathers do this with their children."
-"I'm teaching you the things you'll need to know when you're married."
-"This goes on in every family."

No matter what your father said to you,
It is not okay for a grown man to have sex with a child.
It was wrong.
It was not your fault.
Because children can't legally consent to sex.
Not to mention, it is a huge betrayal of your family's trust.

If so, do feel the shift in the atmosphere?
With the prevalence of coverage surrounding the #EpsteinCoverup,
It feels to me like our time has finally come.

People are paying attention
To the fact that heinous people
Are doing grotesque things
To innocent little kids.

And now there is a hunger for justice.
A desire for these pedophilic sexual predators
To be investigated, prosecuted, indicted, and incarcerated.

May Karma find these predators,
And when she does, let's hope she is a bitch.

One of the most frequently asked questions I hear

One of the most frequently asked questions I hear
Is about cousin-on-cousin child sexual abuse.
People often assume it’s the same thing as sibling sexual trauma and abuse (SSTA).

However, there are some differences.
After sexual harm at the hands of a cousin happens,
The cousin returns to their own home.

With SSTA though,
The child who was harmed
And the child who caused harm
Live together
Which complicates the situation on multiple levels.

For the record,
Both behaviors are intrafamilial child sexual abuse (aka “inces+”),
But with SSTA, both affected children (or more— sometimes a child who causes harm will abuse more than one sibling)
live under the same roof
And share parents or caregivers.
